On December 17, 1927 the U.S.S. S-4 sank in 110 feet of water just outside of Provincetown Harbor. On that fate filled day 40 men lost their lives while in service to their country. More than 80 years later, St. Mary of the Harbor continues to remember the officers and crew, and civilian observers who lost their lives. Each year a memorial service is held at 11:00 a.m. on the Saturday following Veteran's Day. This year's service is November 12, 2016.
